Prop firm challenge calculator

Enter your challenge rules and how you trade. See how many trades the profit target takes, how many losses in a row you can survive before the daily or max drawdown limit, and a simulated pass rate. Then compare prop firms whose rules fit.

Used for the daily loss limit in the simulation.

Trades needed if every trade wins
5
Target $10,000; each win pays $2,000.
Average trades at your win rate
≈ 29
Expectancy 0.35% of the account per trade.
Losses in a row before max drawdown breach
9
Each loss costs $1,000; the next one hits the 10% limit.
Losses in one day before daily loss breach
4
Daily limit 5% = $5,000.

A simulation in your browser: random trades at your win rate and R:R, fixed risk, a static drawdown and a daily limit from each day's starting balance. It ignores spreads, slippage, trailing drawdowns, minimum trading days and consistency rules. Past or simulated results do not predict real results.

Prop firms whose rules fit these limits

From our catalog: firms whose published max drawdown and daily loss are at least as wide as your inputs come first. Last checked ; confirm on the firm's site before you buy.

How the calculator works

  • Trades needed: the profit target divided by the gain on one win (risk × R:R), plus the average at your win rate.
  • Losing streaks: the drawdown or daily limit divided by your risk per trade, minus one, because hitting the limit is a breach.
  • Pass probability: 10,000 simulated challenges in your browser, each ending at the target, a breach or 1,000 trades.
  • Matching firms: catalog firms with a published % max drawdown and daily loss, read from the firms' own sites. Futures firms with dollar limits are left out — see futures prop firms.

FAQ

How many trades do I need to pass a prop firm challenge?
Divide the profit target by what one winning trade earns. With a 10% target, 1% risk and a 1:2 reward-to-risk, each win adds 2%, so at least 5 winning trades. Losses add more trades: at a 45% win rate the average is about 29 trades.
How many losing trades in a row can I take before I breach?
Divide the limit by your risk per trade. Hitting the limit counts as a breach, so with a 10% max drawdown and 1% risk you can lose 9 in a row; the next loss breaches. With a 5% daily limit you can lose 4 trades in one day.
Is the pass probability a guarantee?
No. It is a Monte Carlo simulation run in your browser: thousands of random trade sequences at your win rate and R:R. Real trading has costs, slippage, changing win rates and firm-specific rules such as trailing drawdowns, minimum days and consistency rules, so treat it as an estimate of how your rules and risk interact, not a promise.
Which drawdown model does the calculator use?
A static max drawdown measured from the starting balance, and a daily loss limit measured from each day's starting balance. Some firms use a trailing or end-of-day drawdown instead; check the firm's rules page.
What risk per trade should I use in a challenge?
Lower risk means more losing trades before a breach but more trades to reach the target. Try a few values and compare the simulated pass rate and the losing streak you can survive. This is general information, not financial advice.
